Miami-Dale Voters Remove Mayor Carlos Alvarez - This is the beginning of changes
Here we go! Miami-Dale voters remove Mayor Carlos Alvarez. He was ousted by disgrunted voters, who said it can't happen. This is the beginning of changes.
"Mayor Carlos Alvarez was ousted Tuesday by voters angry over a property tax rate increase and salary raise for county employees in a county struggling to recover from the recession.
With 100 percent of precinct votes counted, 88 percent voted to oust the mayor, making Miami-Dade the most populous area, with more than 2.5 million people, ever to recall a local official. Just 12 percent of the 204,500 who cast ballots were in favor of allowing Alvarez to finish his second term, which ends in 2012."

I think many American voters have been duped in the last election. I am glad to see the uprising. Politicians have been playing these types of games for way too long. A classic example of abuse of power is Scott Walker Governor of WI.

This seems to be a popular trend this year. It makes me wonder how many elected officials will be removed from office this year.

The effort to remove Alvarez was led by billionaire car dealer Norman Braman.

Why are all these billionaires and millionaires interested in a political office. They don't need the money.
I hope some honest middle class individual would step up and campaign for the office. We need hard working, honest people in government.

They are interested for the same reason the likes of the Koch bros. are- TO GET RICHER!! You just watch- now they (Braman) and his co-horts will push for a local official to push THEIR agenda. I's be willing to bet my life on it... Now here in Ioway, in my county, our local elections are non-partisan, but the jerks at the American Future Fund are really trying to change that. And right in my hometoen.

If they have the support of politicians, the politicians are more likely to pass legislation that is in favor of the companies.

Politicians are puppets for the rich elite. Which is why when they campaign they get millions from them.
