Does this make anyone else nervous. I feel if they pass this bill ending collective bargaining rights it will have a domino effect in the other states. It just doesn't bode well for the working men and women in this country.

I just posted a new topic regarding this. Is it a done deal for sure? One article I read said this may not be legal. I wonder if there are some Wisconsinites that are seriously wondering why they voted this guy in? JaneWI what is the feeling you get from others from your state. I always thought WI was a blue state I guess I was wrong or did it fall victim to tea party movement. Whatever the case this is just so sad.

I haven't read anything new on this topic aside from the posted story. I hope this another one of those articles that is exaggerating things.

The feelings here are very mixed, some support Walker, some don't. The Madison area is very blue. The Fox River Valley (aka McCarthy Valley because that infamous senator came from the region) is very red.

Wisconsin is a purple state. It has never really been red or blue. It is always considered to be a "battle ground" state during presidential elections. That's why all of the presidential candidates stop here.

MADISON, Wis. — Republicans pushed a provision stripping public employees of their collective bargaining rights through the state Senate Wednesday evening after finding a way to bypass the chamber's missing Democrats.

Republican senators separated the provision from Gov. Scott Walker's controversial budget bill, removing the requirement that 20 senators be present for a vote on the anti-union measure.
The vote in the Senate was 18-1. Sen. Dale Schultz was the sole no vote. No Democrats were present.
Spectators in the gallery screamed at the Republicans on the floor, "You are cowards."

It's funny, the only reason the republicans could get away with it is because there was nothing financial in this "nuclear option". Now, someone tell me it was about balancing the budget.

How many people lived in fear and died to get these rights? Yes, people did die fighting to get collective bargaining rights. To me, it's like spitting on their graves and it dishonors their legacy.

So the worry comes... Is this a trick???? Just to get the Dems back. Walker may know it's not legal but is counting on the Dems coming back to fight it and them call a Quorum to pass the whole bill.... This could really be a trick cause it sounds like the Dems might be coming back.... Oh no...

We all need to stand united on this topic. I am not from WI but I see the far reaching effect this could have. This is not just about one state or several states it could effect everyone in this country. It is just a matter of time before a whole bunch of states jump on the band wagon. I hope Obama issues a statement.

Obama won't say anything..... If by chance he does he will say it is a STATE issue and he hopes that they will come to a bi-partisan agreement.... We all know that this is just the beginning of a nation wide movement but he won't weigh in on it.... They are going after labor and our votes will the general public get it, maybe but by then it might be too late....
