Wisconsin will not be alone. The cuts in other states are overwhelming. People are not going to take it much longer. NY, NJ, CT and others announced cuts this week also.

Cuts announced all over the country. Cuts happening soon all over the country. Time to take to the streets. It will happen. It is happening now, in Wisconsin.
Re: Wisconsin, Ohio, and other states having protests against governor bills to get rid of collective bargaining rights!
Just scary to think what will happen when residents of NY, NJ and CT join together. People have had enough. Protests like the one in WI could shut Wall St. down. Gee.....what a shame!

I notice some of the "Fox News heads" on you tube are already slandering the protesters as "socialists" or "communists" just like they did when the French were protesting. They need to realize that their slandering is not going to work against the majority of Americans!!!!!!!!!!
The thing that worries me is that even though the French protested for months about all of the cuts, their government went ahead and enacted all of the crap anyway. It's like these governments are not afraid of the people anymore and they certainly are not working for the people like they are supposed to. They had better fear the Americans, though. We have over 300 million people!!!

Yes, ET, this is amazing. I hope they succeed in not letting Walker get away with it. I only wish I could get there.
Now this is an interesting article from a source I believe is local in Madison.
"Walker gins up "crisis" to reward cronies"

Union workers have been vilified for years and it seems the teachers' unions are one of the main targets. I personally know many people who now seriously dislike all teachers and believe the teachers' unions should be disbanded. The talk against unions has been going on for years and some people now believe the unions are to blame for all bad things happening in this country. Ohhhh, if only these people had actually studied anything about labor history....

I'm just lucky to have found the new forum so I can vent here. It's a difficult thing to do where I live because it's known for being very conservative. When I'm riled enough I call it "McCarthy Valley" because that infamous senator is from this area....
Thank you all for "listening" to me on this topic because expressing my views to most people here would make me less than popular.

@janewi....you are not alone as far as living in a conservative area. Remember me....in Gov. Scott's state of Florida. And I live in New Port Richey, which is in Pasco County. Very conservative, right-wing, you have to watch everything you say in public down here. I have learned the hard way, I have lost jobs because of my opinions, etc.
I am originally from NYC, where you can have your own opinions and no one gets fired for that..it goes with the territory, to be an individual up there...but not down here.
Did I tell you about working for Scientologists? Working for Accuform signs in Brooksville..where a coworker found out that I was pro-abortion and put a sculpture of a fetus on my desk? How does that grab you? Down here there is no recourse for job harassment of this nature. Went to lawyers, BBB..nothing can stop these horrendous situations from occurring.
Biggest mistake of my life, moving down here. But, the damage is done and I have to live with it.
BTW...did women's programming on WBAI-FM in NYC. Many broadcasters from WBAI-FM, now work for NPR...like Margot Adler.

ET, it sounds like you are in an area similar to where I am. Those people should not have been able to do that to you. It's just not right. I don't even have sufficient words to describe how sad I am that one, they treated you like that and two, they got away with it. There is no excuse for that type of behavior.
My main hope on the protest is that Madison is the most liberal part of the state. They also have the highest per capita of people who hold bachelor degrees.

Hundreds of students in Appleton, WI protested downtown in support of the protesters in Madison. Wish I had known about this earlier... I wonder where exactly they protested.

Now comes the speculation as to where the democratic senators have gone. Some people are saying they went to IL. I wonder where they have gone off to, especially with the police looking for them.
