100 New Jobs Coming to Reno
With unemployment still on everyone's minds, a company is expanding to Reno. And with the expansion comes 100 new jobs.
While 1150 Trademark Drive is quiet, in about four months it will be buzzing with machines, assemblers and 100 new employees within the next two years..
"Jobs are number one priority right now," said Danny Campos of the Northern Nevada Development Authority. "We've got to get people back to work."
Laco Inc. is expanding its California-based company here to Reno. The company is a full service turnkey manufacture specializing in wire and cable assemblies
Laco's CEO Erika Meciar said the jobs will consist of mostly assembly workers. And she says the city of Reno had great opportunities for expansion.
"We wanted to keep costs down for our customers, she said." And stay competitive in the market."
The company says by its fifth year of operation, they will create more than 200 new jobs.
The Northern Nevada Development Authority helped bring Laco to Reno and Director of Business Development, Danny Campos said the new jobs will bring a real boost to the Reno economy.
"If we can put people back to work, we're going to put them back to work," said Campos. "Naturally, when people are working there is more spending as well. It's kind of a chain reaction."
Laco is currently hiring those one hundred employees, already filling 30 positions. If you are looking for a job and want to apply to Laco, CEO Meciar said applicants can fill out the application online at www.lacoinc.com, email or mail their resume. She also said beginning April 4, people can walk-in to the Reno headquarters and apply.
The company plans to begin full operations by July 1.
