New bank brings jobs to Owensboro
New bank brings jobs to Owensboro
OWENSBORO, KY (WFIE) - The new US Bank on Tamarack Road is open for business in Owensboro.
"This is home to us. We're certainly pleased to bring jobs to this community," Robert Smiley of US Bank says.
Over 500 jobs to be exact, that focus on loan processes.
"We service mortgage loans throughout the
country. The current economy has ben difficult for people that have
mortgage loans and we've had to add exponentially the staff to assist
customers. I've been needing space for quite some time. This is a long
awaited and very welcomed building," Smiley says.
The first 220 are moving into the building
Friday. US Bank Vice President Robert Smiley says nearly 250 jobs will
be filled later this year.
"This is a great opportunity for us. Really
not only to deal with some of those folks that are looking for work
right now but also gives us the ability to really look at diversifying
our economy," EDC President Nick Brake says.
With more jobs available, the EDC and
Owensboro Community College are offering classes to prepare job seekers
for US Bank work opportunities.
