In Missouri a bill has been passed through the house (I believe it is part of the large budget bill) that completely eliminates the department that investigates unscrupulous employers and child labor laws. Do you know what will likely happen if no one oversees this? Children will be put in harms way and people who are easily taken advantage of will not get their fair wages.
IT isn't a movement anymore it is an all out war against labor and although unemployment is my first concern this is a close second this is very scary folks.

Pugsrit: I agree...this is scary to me too. To keep these nosensical acts in context I've created a "Talking Points" email that I plan to distribute to friends, family, etc., for MONTHS prior to the Presidential Elections. So far, it includes highlights of these "what were you thinking" budget cuts from states accross the country. So far Florida, Michigan, Ohio, CA, Wisconsin, and New Jersey merit the "best" postings. Looks like Missouri can join in the insanity of budget cuts. I'd forgotten that while working it's difficult to keep abreast of national and state news and when networking with friends I intentionally share some of the difficulties of my job search and it's relationship to what is happening in politics around the country. Much to my suprise people have not only listened but been outraged at the information we deal with everyday in looking for jobs. In turn they've been more understanding and helpful of my challenge to find re-employment and discovered new "topics" to discuss during our networking.
Looking for re-employment is directly related to the political and economic environment and I'll be darned if I'm going to NOT make it clear the CONTINUING and UNNECESSARY obstacles we see put before us everyday in that search.

99ers relentless pursuit for 14 week unemployment extension turns a corner
99er’s are urged to relentlessly go after the 14 week unemployment extension that has been stagnant in the House for some time now. Although it has gone long past the point where the unemployed has had any solid news about the possibilities of this 2011 unemployment extension for the 99ers, there is still a chance today.

99ers National 'March For Jobs' For April 2 Gains Momentum
Unemployed? A 99er? Do you have fears of becoming part of the jobless population? Tired of the political rhetoric that seems to do nothing to encourage or rectify joblessness in the U. S.? There is the idea being circulated that awareness of the numbers of jobless Americans should unite for a national March For Jobs

Poll Shows More Americans Have Unfavorable Views of Tea Party
CNN has a new poll out showing their highest-ever level of unfavorable views for the Tea Party movement. According to the poll, 47 percent of Americans now have an unfavorable view of the Tea Party, as compared to 32 percent with a favorable one.
Let’s keep this simple: is the poll some sort of outlier or part of a trend?

Maybe we should make a topic for this one so everyone will know about it.tazzy2 wrote:99ers National 'March For Jobs' For April 2 Gains Momentum
