The economic recovery is 2 years old. Corporate America is thriving
again. But “for hire” signs at the USA’s biggest companies are
surprisingly scarce.
Top employers are adding very slowly to their rolls.

Some industries are still shrinking
Mergers skew the numbers

Re: Why aren't the biggest U.S. companies hiring?
A number of large firms are not adding to their net workforce at all.
It’s not just the anemic job growth, but the reluctance of many large
companies to hire at all. Of the 444 companies with valid head count
data, just 246 have increased their employee head count 1% or more.
More than a third of those 444 companies ended 2010 with fewer people
than they started the year with.

because they are working the people they have their now to the bone......and why should they hire people.....when the work is getting done with the ones that they have now.....they are making record profits....with a lean workforce.....so why would they hire anymore people.....they will just offshore the work for cheap labor.....or pretend that they need more tax breaks from the government to create jobs.....all BS.....Unless they are getting some kind of incentives from the government to hire more people they won't.....

That's how it was at the last place I worked. 7-day workweek, 12-hour days (Only 8 on Sundays! Or sometimes 10. Or 12.), no vacations, no raises, and a hiring freeze.
