Thanks Need2Bworking, that is good news. Did you talk to someone, how did you get this info?
Got an email from a friend that lives in Pennsylvania, she spoke with the aid in the Senators office this morning.
Thanks. The Republicans are in the majority in both the Senate and the House of Representatives and the Governor Tom Corbett, so we have our work cut out for us.
Several of us have emailed and faxed North Carolina so if you have the contacts for Pennsylvania post them and we will get those emails going l
Should we see if Senator Tartaglione introduces the legislation?
Here is a list of PA Senators w/ email contact information:
http://www.legis.state.pa.us/cfdocs/legis/home/member_information/email_list.cfm?body=S
If you need to find out who your legislators are for PA, use this link, it brings up a map of PA divided by county, click your county and it will bring up your Senator and Representative.
http://www.legis.state.pa.us/cfdocs/legis/home/findyourlegislator/#county
I also see that they are gone for the weekend, and will reconvene on 4-11-11, unless they were to be called back.

Re: Extended Unemployment Insurance Stopping Short In Several States
Many thanx Aloneinpa, Need2B, & everybody else for this info.
In her district.....Senator Christine Tartaglione (D PA-2) works hard to represent homeowners, parents with children in the public schools, healthcare workers, law enforcement personnel, etc.
http://www.senatortartaglione.com/about.htm
Christine is a big supporter of the average working man & woman as well as seniors. It's great to hear that she's working on a bill to put in place the Three Year Lookback. My state sen & rep will hear from me!!

Only Oregon, Massachusetts, Michigan, & Illinois have passed the Three-Year Lookback Law to let them to continue getting EB if their UE rates are over 6.5% (for the initial 13 weeks) & 8.0% (for the further 7 weeks).
This is a very important factor in urging Congress to pass HR 589.....

for those in NC, remember the Dem National Conv will be held in NC in 2012...That may be enough for Democrates to sway us over by extending EB..

I am confused. EB is a state emergency program beyone the initial 26 weeks. Yea, most states have had to borrow the money from the fed as they are broke but its not the EUC08 program which remains in place all year.

Re: Extended Unemployment Insurance Stopping Short In Several States
Normally the states & the fed govt split the cost of EB 50/50 unless the state has its own EB program. Under the ARRA Law the feds took over the full costs of EB so long as states agreed to follow fed guidelines. Currently a state that gets its EB paid by the fed govt may continue till Dec. 31st so long as it passes the Three Year Lookback rule.booniebeast wrote:I am confused. That's quite a Governor you've got there North Carolinians.....booniebeast wrote:Terrync wrote:http://www.wral.com/news/state/nccapitol/blogpost/9435658/

"You've got about 37,000 families worried about getting that extension of unemployment. I mean these are real people who need milk and bread and stuff to pay their light bill and their gas bill," said Perdue. "And you've got a bunch of politicians--leaders, they're supposed to be--who're sworn to take an oath--I mean they took an oath on the bible--to do what they need to do." --Gov. Perdue, NC
Tho the expression *extension of unemployment* always drives me nuts.

Here is the video tape of Gov. Perdue with the above information.
God bless this woman, she understands what people need in this economic crisis and not scared to say it in public.

Sounds like the veto stamp is on her desk just waiting.
She is encouraging North Carolinaians to protest to remind those politicians of their oaths and their jobs representing the People.
Keep on sending those letters and emails!
