The Prince of Wales criticized subsidies for large-scale agriculture.....

If only President Obama &/or Harry Reid would do the same.....

Of course Big Ag shouldn't be getting any subsidies whatsoever but frankly an even bigger PROBLEM is the corruption.....

(1) Tenant farmers before 1994 just paid land rent to their landlords. Since then they've had to pay the land rent *PLUS* the amount of the subsidy to the landlord. Landlords simply raised the annual rent to include the amount of the subsidy which tenant farmers must pay whether or not they've had a good crop year or bad crop year. Increasingly landlords are located outside of the US.....landlords who are Canadians living in Canada, Chinese living in China, ect. Congress made the law say the tenant farmers got the subsidy.....& some of the subsidies go to foreign countries.

(2) Since the mid-1990s real-estate developers have been buying up large sections of qualifying farmland & subdividing it into 5-acre plots. For 25 years they've marketed the subsidies to residential customers as a 'free bonus from the government.' The buyer builds a house on 1 acre & collects the subsidy on the other 4 acres. These buyers are already well to do--& from the taxpayers (aka from the DEBT) they are living large. How great to get a $5,000 check from the US govt every year to help pay one's mortgage--without ever doing any farming or even thinking about ever doing any farming.

Let's not even get started talking about members of Congress who either themselves or their families (& their lobbyists) are right now collecting so-called Agricultural Subsidies.....these Fake Farm Subsidies.

Tenant farmers unanimously agree that the subsidy program should end.

I am hoping that this is the start of other world leaders putting the spot light on the corruption involved with the food supply... The more and varied voices shinning a light on this makes it harder for them to continue to hide...

Prince Charles and Queen Mum profit from farm subsidies but want it kept as a secret. Who is Prince Charles to judge while he himself collects money from the Brits' taxpayers. The wealthy think that the common people are serfs.

Ministers have ordered an information blackout on the massive farming subsidies paid to the Queen, Prince Charles and dozens of other wealthy landowners.

I also agree that Prince Charles should keep his mouth shut about subsidizing farms - and about subsidizing anything else, too. The "royal family" is subsidized big time after all. Anyway, I was actually looking for a place to research this topic and rather found all these vocal comments.
