They outsourced my job overseas...no taxes paid from my paycheck.
Unemployment Insurance has been exhausted...no more taxes paid from that benefit...that I paid into all my life.
My home that I have paid a mortgage on for 18 years in foreclosure...no more property taxes.

And they wonder why the country is $330 BILLION short from unpaid taxes. This was reported before April 15th.

The poverty is trickling up. Less tax $$$ for schools, libraries, police, teachers ,fire fighters, garbage pick up, street cleaners, snow plow drivers etc. This effects many more people.

Obama is doing his "job" of destroying America and our economy. He is a Bush II, probably CFR chosen candidate with the job given to dismantle this place even faster. His speeches do not even make sense. I remember the day when the Democrat president would pretend to care about the poor, this guy doesn't even bother. The Fact he pushes GLobalism makes it apparant he doesnt give two squats about the American people.

Well if your Obama or some rich politician but hello... what about the unemployed... how many hits can we keep taking???

You would think these politicians would read the non-affilated government economists and realize we never got out of this recession. I just don't know about this government of ours, I suppose the Republican NRA could get a few people together and shoot all of us.

my, my, don't you understand there are all these little things they have to take into considertion, like the Easter Holiday for bus driver in NY. Using that type of thinking what about the terrible snow storms along the NE corridor, that should have made the unemployment rate skyrocket in January and February and March, but nope, it went down. I know I am missing something here, I think it is probably they do nothing but abuse us, lie, and would like to see us fall off the earth (they'd probably still think it was flat, if McConnell of that house leader told them so).

Yes last month the economy gained 244,000 jobs (many p/t & temp jobs).....but to get back to where we were before the Recession the US would have to create 400,000 jobs a month for several years. Since jobs finally started coming back.....the number of jobs created is barely sufficient to keep up with the number of Americans turning age 16 every month. In other words there aren't enuf jobs being created to make up for the 8 million people laid off during the Recession. I'm disappointed that the President trumpeted 244,000 as a success when all it does is keep up with population growth. The reality is that.....since the fed govt started keeping unemployment records in 1948 there has only one time before been a period when Americans suffered this much. That was 1981-1984 when the U3 unemployment rate was above 8% for 27 months in a row. In April 2011 we tied that sad record with 27 months in a row of U3 at over 8%. When the May numbers come out of June 3rd America will break that record with 28 months of U3 above 8%.

Hear you philly. you are right on! Obama trumps the 244,000 jobs as if hey we're back. But never says to the long term unemployed millions as he did last year and said> "I am sorry for those long term unemployed I know that the announcement of 150,000 new jobs isn't enough to reduce the long term unemployed but it needs to be sustained for several months or couple of years to reduce unemployment to pre recession levels..." Hello. Obama.. 244,000... Will take 3 to 4 yrs. at 200,000+ to reduce it to near &.5 to 8%.... and also layoff's or new jobless claims need to be below 375,000... Hello!!!!

Really.....what kind of hit does he think the economy could take.....Gas, Food and Crime is rising.....more people are getting laid off.....there are no jobs......how many more hits can the economy takes before it crashes.....

What do you want him to say? I give up and you should too. All he was saying is that the American people are resilliant, and we are.

A few "pep" speeches like this, similar to FDR's Fireside Chats, can actually motivate people and encourage them to stand up for what is right. All the negativity only leads to more doom and gloom.

Oh boy!!! Newbe and criticizing those who have been here since the original Unemployed-friends 2009..... Too bad you have not suffered like many has on the unemployed forums. But you are right... His statements didn't say how hard the hit has to be to keep going. If its a hard hit, then we'll see where he stands. Like continued high gas prices. right, we need fire side speeches.. That will work every time!

Not a "newbie" here. I have been unemployed since early 2008 and have suffered just as much, maybe even more, as the rest of the 99ers. My post wasn't intended to criticize anyone. It was merely intended to point out that I support the President's positive attitude. Consider what situation we would be in if he told us he has given up and so should we.

Even though it is difficult at times to stay positive, it is the only way we can win this battle lodged against us by the GOP.

As far as your comments regarding "Fireside Chats" - yes, they did work during the Great Depression. Those chats inspired people to keep on going in spite of the difficulties they faced back then, very similar to the challenges we face today.

Its hard to keep positive attitude when we are so abused and jerked around. If you have other means of support the issue isn't as dramatic too you. But if you are on a single income and out of benefits, well if you can stay positive, thats great!!! And I am not being critical of you , its just we all have different emotions and reactions!! And tolerances!! This is all so emotionally draining. As many realize, all of the last extensions or at least the last 4 extension votes were so up and down. One day it passed and next day it is dead. And the politicians beat the heck out of our emotions! So anyway! Its now worse and they do not care!!!
