Jobless rate falling for those with college degrees, rising for those without

Jobless rate falling for those with college degrees, rising
for those without

For Americans with college degrees, the employment situation
is improving slightly: 74 percent had jobs in May, up from 73.5 percent in
April and 73.2 percent in January.

It's a different story for those without the degree. Of
people who went to college but didn't graduate, 64.1 percent had a job last
month, down from 64.6 percent in January. Among high school grads who didn't
attend college, 54.6 percent had a job in May, the same as in January. And only
38.5 percent of high school dropouts were employed, down from 38.7 percent in
January.

Those changes may seem relatively small. But they're
exacerbating what was already a massive disparity in employment in this
country.

Sure, companies want to hire uneducated people so they can pay them peanuts ($9.00 or less) More money made for the company by keeping the labor underpaid. Companies are even hiring people with degrees, paying them peanuts also. It makes no difference, the degree you have earned is useless now.

What a crazy world we live in!

So why go to College? Makes no sense anymore! A College education was suppose to open the doors of opportunity to the ones who had them, but doors have been closed. Degrees have now become worthless pieces of paper in front of amassed student loans that a lot of people will never be able to pay off.

This is true. I have a masters and many times that scares off employers. Most of the interviews I've had in the last 6 months were for unskilled jobs. I regret going to college.

Sorry to be the one to point out that I think you *misread* the article & WW's post. The article states that people who have at least a bachelor's degree have a much *better* chance of landing a job than people who who don't. It says high-school dropouts are at the bottom rung of the ladder with the fewest opportunities. Due to the overall severe lack of jobs in this economy.....people with college degrees have snapped up jobs that used to be held by people without college degrees leaving the less-educated part of the population adrift. In fact teenagers ages 16-19 are the worst-off.....which doesn't paint a good picture at all for the upcoming long hot summer.....teenagers are more likely to get into trouble when they don't have jobs.
