I just signed up on the JobsOver50.com job site for over 50 job hunters.

Question Anyone else did the same?

(1) How can you tell when the job was posted?

I don't know if I need stronger glasses, but I am not seeing the dates(lol).

(2) I see only a FEW "verified" - should I be concerned and not even read the other job postings that don't have "verified"..

(3) Finally, have you applied for any of these jobs?

My gf & I both also registered recently. Therefore we don't know the answers to your questions since we're new there. Many jobs seem to be for Occupational Therapist or Physical Therapist (for which we're unqualified) but we each did find 1 job we thought we might qualify for & applied for them. So thanx for the heads up.

Lol--How bout that 'On Call Nanny' job.....if somebody really wants a Nanny available 24-7.....then they should pony up the bucks & hire a live-in Nanny by providing living quarters for the Nanny.

Lol lol--Wish I were qualified for the 'Corporate Gourmet Chef' job!! Very Happy

lol! Your post made me "giggle" for the first time today - thanks! Yes, in my area (Columbus, Georgia) the medical careers have the area tied up and I wish I had the stomach to take care of sick and dying folks. But I don't. It may take me going away for another temporary job just to be able to help my boyfriend with our household expenses. He is 57 and I will be 53 in September. He just made 1 year in his retail job (Image Consultant) and I had to go to Orlando, Florida to stay with my grown daughter (only child) and her roommate for 6 months while doing a temporary Office Assistant job with a professor in the Engineering Department of the University of Central Florida. Just came back home the end of January and not having any luck with another source of income. I did not find anything to apply for but did complete my profile and upload an "internet" safe resume - so not into having folks know my home address or cell phone number(lol). If they prove to me they are for real and not trying to steal my id, I will give out more info.

***I got the following email response from the site, I had sent in my questions and was surprised I got such a quick answer = LOVE IT
Laughing ***

Hello again and thank you for your questions.

If the
employer removes the dates from their job posting that usually means
that it is an ongoing job opportunity they continually hire for. We give
the employer the option.

The unverified jobs are usually safe
and come from simply hired, indeed, career builder, LinkedIn and 4,000 -
5,000 niche boards that feed to us. Verified jobs come from employers
that post directly on our site.

Thank you again. We appreciate having you on board. If possible, please confirm receipt of this message.

AJS--Just a note.....you can change your User Name on the DAWU site by going to your profile. Personally I wouldn't want my full name appearing on any internet blog because employers' HR offices have staff that regularly cruise the Internet looking for names of their applicants to see what kinds of info is out there about them or posted by them. Once you modify your name on DAWU.....then all your DAWU posts will show your new user name instead of the old one. Recommend you think seriously about changing your user name. If you're trying to get work at a university or affiliated with a university it's particularly important to remain relatively anonymous when posting on blogs. You never know when an employer might take offense not to what *you* post but to something *someone else* posts to a blog that you're a member of.

Hi Phillymg, thanks for the tip and I totally understand what you are saying. In the past I did follow this rule. Now I am about being the best I can be and if a potential employer has a problem with that, I don't need to be working for them. Spent too years trying to keep everyone happy and not going there again. But I do APPRECIATE your concern - that was sweet of you and I hope you find a job soon. And I know you will by following your own tip. Oh, I use my FULL name just for that reason, to be known... Talk later Laughing

Had an interview yesterday but the interviewer seemed distant from the start.....then at the end said somebody else would make the decision & they'd let me know. Had the feeling they'd already hired someone. pale

On a positive note this week I got into a college with night-school classes for an MS degree. It'll take a few years (less by going summers) but at the end I'll be qualified to work in a nuclear power plant. More student-loan debt but oh well.

Good luck to you on your job search too.....you might look into going back to school.....President Obama says unemployed Americans lack 'skills' so I'm taking him up on his suggestion that we go back to school.

JobsOver50.com Empty Good for you!!!

Hi Phillymg:

JobsOver50.com 990903 Love the way you deal with life. You realize while we do not have any control over who they hire, you do have control over your reaction and the rest of your life. Congrats on returning to school. Yep, those loans are never easy to stomach, but you are pursuing a dream and that is what counts.

Yes, I want to go back to do "conversational" Spanish once I get back on my feet financially as I do have to pay to keep a roof over my head and that alone keeps me worrying. When I return to school, I want to be able to ENJOY the experience and ace all my courses. In the past I allowed life to get in the way and never finished up my 2 year degree. Hey, never too late to finish up what we started.
