Past US Senator from NJ Bill Bradley Suggests A JOBS BILL
Props to Bill Bradley.....too bad he's not actually *in* Congress at the moment.....
http://www.usatoday.com/news/opinion/forum/2011-06-26-how-obama-can-spur-job-creation_n.htm
The anti-Obama/anti-Dem commenters don't like the idea.....what else is new??
Imo this vital JOBS BILL should have been part of the Stimulus bill way back when.
There are a couple problems with the article. First Senator Bradley talks like the $1,000 tax credit of the HIRE ACT is still happening.....but it expired on 12/31/10. Yes some people who got hired before Dec. 31st still haven't worked the full 52 weeks before their employers' can claim the tax credit.....but *zero* other unemployed Americans can participate in the program.
Second Senator Bradley seems not to care that '99ers' & other exhaustees will be *ineligible* for help from his suggested bill. His bill states a person must be collecting UI benefits for the employer to qualify for the tax credit after the person they hire works f/t for 52 weeks. At least the HIRE ACT law let 99ers participate because employers could qualify by hiring f/t for at least 52 weeks *anyone* who hadn't worked more than 10 hours in the past 60 days. It sux that Bradley excludes 99ers from his bill.
Those problems aside.....it's unlikely that Senator Bradley's idea will become law anytime soon.....which is too bad because it'd really help reduce unemployment in a practical way.
