Bill introduced in the Senate to ensure long-term stability of unemployment insurance

Post by Guest on Thu Feb 17, 2011 9:56 pm

To be frank, this bill involves the initial 26 weeks of unemployment that states have borrowed from the Federal government to pay unemployed Americans their first 26 weeks of unemployment. This does not involve the Federal Unemployment Extensions:

Oh, you're welcome. This bill is designed to safeguard states who have borrowed to pay someone's initial 26 weeks of unemployment. For states that have budget problems, they have to borrow from the Federal government to pay those first 26 weeks of state-provided unemployment.

This bill just allows states to defer from paying the interest on those unemployment loans that they borrow from the Federal government. It's designed to help protect states who are strapped for cash who might otherwise default on the paybacks.

it seems there are alot of governors want to lower the initial claim to20 weeks.and also if you are hired as a temporary employee regardless of how long that job lasts you could not collect when laid off at least in florida thats what they are trying
