New claims for unemployment aid rise more than expected
New claims for unemployment aid rise more than expected
Increase after claims had fallen to the lowest level in nearly three years
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/41641301/ns/business-stocks_and_economy/
The Labor Department said Thursday that 410,000 people sought
unemployment assistance last week, a jump of 25,000 from the previous
week. The rise was much larger than economists had expected.

Haven't the overused the term "more than expected" and "unexpected" in regards to first time unemployment claims?

You would think they would come up with some new terms.JaneWI wrote:Haven't the overused the term "more than expected" and "unexpected" in regards to first time unemployment claims?

I have said this many times! They use unexpected for impact.. when its bad news its "unexpected", I view that unexpected as unaccountability Like hey we didn't think it was going to be this bad!! but if the claims drop and its stated as Unexpected that also is a "WOW! We hoped things were getting better but we didn't know it was going to be this much better". .. see how they manipulate to benefit them no matter good or bad! But we have them exposed!!! They are plain ignorant and out of touch then!!!

I'm surprised that they aren't completely blaming it on snow like they love to do.

" UNEXPECTED" has been used for around 2 years, as the 99ers can attest to. Why isn't there at least ONE person out there with clout who can expose this fraud they feed us. Dems and Reps both want us to run off and die somewhere. I continue to be amazed at this cover up.

They are doing this a deception and both of them! Either as a excuse to make us think things are great. or not to allow more weeks as needed. But when things collapse again then what excuse will it be then... I am sorry???

i think the media has a form letter and they just fill in "more than expected or less than expected",the numbers and the week date. It's been basicly the same article every week for over 2 yrs.

You're probably right on that as many news sources have laid off a lot of reporters. A fill in the blank article would save a lot of time.

The so-called 'expert economists' are *NEVER* right about their estimates. It's always 'more than expected' or 'less than expected'.....must be a great job if you can get it--making $h!t up for 6 figures a year.

Well, I EXPECTED it to go up. It was a fluke that it dropped below 400,000. Must have been those first sunny days of the thaw we had that week.
Makes sense to me...
