House of Reps. Passes Cuts to Domestic Programs That Will Hurt the Poor
Here we go! House of Representative passes cuts to domestic programs. As usual the poor will always get screwed one way or the other from the richest country in the world. The republicans better watch their backs because the poor outnumber the wealthy. Warmer weather and angry people equal protests.

Re: House of Reps. Passes Cuts to Domestic Programs That Will Hurt the Poor
I saw this article this morning. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/41660795/ns/politics-capitol_hill/
You are certainly right that the poor out numbers the rich. It's basically 2% of them against 98% of us. That's why they try to keep us Americans distracted with other things and keep us fighting amongst ourselves. If Americans would wake up and see that it is only 2% doing all of this, we could win.
I also agree that angry Americans plus warmer weather equals protests. It has been predicted two years ago by Gerald Celente, a trends analyst, that there would be mass protests in the US by summer of 2011 and it is starting to happen.

Something has to happen in some form or way. If you're not rich, you're the red headed step child. The government has had carte blanche for so long they really have nothing to fear in regards to a American uprising!

If they want to make some cuts, let us look at costs of the Michelle Obama's staff:
The highest paid is Chief of Staff Susan Sher, who gets the top $172,200. Here are the rest:
I think this would feed a few 99ers for 14 week. What do you think?

Blast the first Lady! Yeah that will really solve America's economic crisis. Lets not even go comparison shopping with Barbara Bush and Laura Bush. This crisis didn't happen because of Michelle Obama's expense account so ease off and direct that error to the RIGHT people.

We need cuts across the board. I worked at a government run railroad and their waste was tremendous. The big wigs often had lobster dinners. Cut those people who have been on welfare for years yet haven't done anything to earn it (those who are lazy moochers not people fallen on hard times). Cut salaries of top government officials. Cut their benefits including use of airplanes and helicopters.

@Patriot,
Did we vote Michelle Obama in office? Why in the world does she need all the people in her staff? I think $1,600,700 is an outrageous amount. What about the vacations? Is that why 99ers can't get 14 weeks unemployment benefits because money is being wasted on people like Michelle Obama who couldn't care less about you or me. Did she ever once speak out for the 99ers or the unemployed? The President, House of Representatives and Congress laugh themselves to sleep every night without a worry. You know why? All their bills are paid for by the American people. Ha, Ha.

SOME MORE WASTE IN OUR GOVERNMENT:
A report prepared by Sen. Tom Coburn’s (R-OK) office reveals taxpayers shelled out $615,000 so the University of California at Santa Cruz could digitize Grateful Dead photographs, tickets, backstage passes, fliers, shirts and other memorabilia.
“This is one of the first efforts to preserve and share cultural and historical artifacts of the baby boom generation, a group that includes 76 million Americans,” representatives of the Institute of Museum and Library Services explained.
So let the Baby Boomers pay for it out of their own pockets.
When taxpayers aren’t shelling out money for music memorabilia, they’re busy paying for the other projects listed in Coburn’s report. Here are a few named in the report:
As Coburn puts it, examples like these are too numerous to count.
“Worse yet,” he writes, “they are costing us billions even as we borrow huge sums just to keep the government operating at a basic level.”

- They supply $175 million a year so the Department of Veterans Affairs can maintain buildings it doesn’t use, including a pink, octagonal monkey house in Dayton, Ohio.
- They pinch pennies so a federal grant program can distribute $1 million to zoos to post bits of poetry to plaques on zoo premises.
- They cushion the federal coffers so the Monkton, VT, Conservation Commission can build a “critter crossing” for $150,000.
- They file honest tax returns so the Internal Revenue Service can deliver $112 million in undeserved tax refunds to prisoners who filed fraudulent returns.
- They fork over their hard-earned dollars so Denali National Park in Alaska can afford nearly $1.5 million worth of new toilets.
As Coburn puts it, examples like these are too numerous to count.
“Worse yet,” he writes, “they are costing us billions even as we borrow huge sums just to keep the government operating at a basic level.”

Re: House of Reps. Passes Cuts to Domestic Programs That Will Hurt the Poor
Yes, it's a drop in the bucket following the money trail on projects Obama & Co. were going to start looking into and cutting 2 years ago. What's the delay? Haven't they ever heard Time is of The Essence?
And umm, how are prisoners filing tax returns to begin with??? Where's their income & 1099's? How the frick is this happening? Could .15 cents an hour really get taxed? Aren't they non-civilians? They can't vote, how are they...?
It's just so badly wrong. Silly grant money has always been in the coffers but come on -- we should be pulling all of this back in this time of need and depression. In the least, give it to the teachers, cops and firemen for cryin' out loud.

Re: House of Reps. Passes Cuts to Domestic Programs That Will Hurt the Poor
And the 2012 Presidential SLEAZE election has beyond! The ills of the USA were put upon by First Lady Michelle Obama. Lets pull the plug on HER expenses and America will rise from this economic crisis with millions of JOBS and a JOBS BILL introduced and passed by the 112th Congress bought and paid for of course by Michelle Obama's expense account. All that has been said and will be said is leading up to 2012 campaign! Plenty of blame to go around predicated by the Bush/Cheney administration leading up to the Recession of 2007 to present. How's that 112th Congress working out for ya!!!!! GMAB!

Not sure how a thread that's about something *Congress* has done winds up being a bash-Mrs.Obama-athon.
Anyways if we're talking pork.....how about the $38.5 million in earmarks for South Dakota that Sen. John Thune attached to the spending bill in December??

Up to 2009 'Ironic Johnny' (luv that nickname) was responsible for $240 million in earmarks.

Basically to change the direction of discussion with bashing of M O that has nothing to do with what is going on in this country and it should be in the VENT section. Seen the rhetoric too many times prior to November elections and slowly leading up to November 2012. We should be organizing and coming up with a strategy with 19 groups to get legislation passed to help the 99ers PLUS stopping the republican majority Congress from cutting the life's blood of those who don't have addresses in Washington D.C. and finally getting those asses to create and introduce a viable Jobs Bill because the 99ers rolls are growing and Michelle Obama's expense account be damned.

Don't you think that $1,600,700 is wasteful spending? No wonder our country is broke. Let's keep screwing the poor and forget about the shrinking middle class but keep the wasteful spending going on, and on, and on.

If anyone cares.....in 2008 Laura Bush spent $1 million to pay her staff. Also let's not even get started on the hundreds of millions of dollars the taxpayers paid to fly the Bush family back & forth from their ranch in Texas 77 times in 8 years. Plus the luxurious vacations Laura Bush took with her gal pals.

Re: House of Reps. Passes Cuts to Domestic Programs That Will Hurt the Poor
Of course, people didn't like that either. Just because people didn't like the previous administration doesn't mean that they should like the current administration doing the exact same horrible things. And just because a person doesn't like things that the current administration does, doesn't mean that they did like the things the previous administration did. It doesn't have to be one or the other.Phillymg wrote:If anyone cares.....in 2008 Laura Bush spent $1 million to pay her staff. More calls and emails to our US Reps to HALT any further push to CUT domestic programs that will hurt the classes EXCLUDING of course the upper-class. Lets not forget the nice pay raises they gave themselves and their Congressional staffers in 2010. 99ers don't give up the fight for HR 589!
