Borders Files Chapter 11, Closing 200 Stores, Holds Firesale

Post by Guest on Sat Feb 19, 2011 7:07 pm

I don't know if this belongs here, if it doesn't feel free to move it to the right forum, but, I thought everyone might want to know about this.

Apparently, the bankruptcy court judge overseeing "Borders" Chapter 11 Bankruptcy Protection filing has approved their plan to reorganize by approving the closing of 200 stores. This move will make the store chain leaner and allow it to pay back its debt to vendors as well as generate new loans and capital. Of the stores are closing, a list has been released for those stores which are closing:

What I also found out, from a website community that deals with the Blu-ray movie format and the hardware for Blu-ray, that the stores that are closing are having some kind of "firesale" to liquidate their inventory before they are closed. I don't know if anyone has funds available or you know friends who might take advantage, but, you might want to tell them to check out this list as well if these stores are having a firesale. A firesale is when a retailer liquidates their store inventory before they end up closing their doors for that location. Discounts can range from 20% off up to 90% off. While I don't know much about this firesale, I'm just repeating what I've heard. Some are validating the story while others cannot verify it.
