Roller coaster ride continues. Jobless claims drop more than expected

Not wanting bad news but do want unemployment to drop weekly however want also new jobs grow week after week. Thats a better sign, but I still do not believe things are that Rosie!
However oil jumping and if it stays for long watch out, So if we are still in a "unexpected" cycle again it won't be long until it will be [expected]!!!

I really do no give a blank! None the less its same ole' same ole'... and I say this also if the oil crap keeps going on things will no longer be "unexpected". And I also say this up and down cycle is going to continue. But as we read these numbers week after week they will serve as an excuse to say no to 589! IMO! so doesn't matter if its Fox, socks, hocks, or msnbc, ppbc,poopiebc, or whatever the news is the same. Full of baloney!

Jen, You did what I did. I posted the original ,link and clicked it and it opened to fox business and when you clicked the jobless link it would not open. So I am removing that link and linking yours in my original post. same story anyway!

Ok, So I put your jobless link in my original post! You need to remove your foxbusiness links and leave your msnbc link in those spots or remove them all together. The fox business will just confuse and not open up to the article!

Oil prices going up obviously really hurts the economy. It takes money right out of your pocket. Lately I have been able to go almost a month though on a tank of gas.

It looks like msnbc merged that article with the "new home sales drag on economy" article. It was two separate articles earlier. Oh, well. It's all in the article anyway.

MrG, I have maybe 200/mo to run on and I have to go to VA drs. in local city or drive to the main hosp. in Louisville 17 ms. away! I fill up my car every day say after I get 30 to 40+ miles so the 12 to $14.00 looks easier even though its a wash! I can't let it go to 100+miles and fill it up and look at 30 to 40 dollars. so to avoid the emotional shock I just do it at 15 bucks each time. Ashamed that is only 4 to 5 gls. so I try to hold down my driving. But I enjoy taking my grandkids to school and thats 4 miles the two mornings roughly 8 mils the 2 days I get to take them. And that is priceless. But I also jump when my son living 10 miles away calls and doesn't ask but says I need you here at a certain time and if I say I can't watch the granddaughter he makes me explain why I can't. But he doesn't realize if I drive to his house and home thats 20+ miles and its 5.00 each time I drive to sit with her! But she is my stinker and I cannot ask for money for gas because he would throw it up to me about him paying me to watch my granddaughter! So I enjoy being with her and don't want the abuse! But he is disabled so to speak and the SSDI would send him a paid helper several days a week and he would pay them a small token to watch them but he has managed to run two of them off so far! My point is so after a few miles per week per month.. Whet ever I do not spend on gas is what I try to live on!! I had to vent while also making my point on how much I have to survive on per month! 200.00 doesn't quite do it! I have small retirement that pays my roof and small car pmt i desperately need. So after paying those then its 200.00 /mo. Sad thing is I feel for the others who do not even have that much to go on!! My heart is with them.. Very sad to not be able to help them and also they are at their means end!! Hope is all we have left!

Yep! the Roller-Coaster ride continues as 93,000 people per week fall off of it! That is the estimated amount of people who are exhausting their Unemployment benefits weekly, and are counted as "discouraged" ?

Hmmm, I wonder what "they" consider expected?

They're still too many numbers filing initial claims. I wonder what the real ratio is -- working vs. non? With still almost half a million -- or more than a quarter million filing every week (non-CEO's of course) who's left out there? I have to think a lot of people are off the grid -- off the books -- and employers are taking advantage of that too so their hiring numbers are not being tracked.

Next week will be an unexpected increase because they will have forgotten the police, firefighters, fed workers and teachers getting pink slips for upcoming weeks.
