Re: Gallup Finds U.S. Unemployment Hitting 10.3% in February
Warren Buffet said Wednesday on CNBC that the U.S. unemployment rate
should be in the low 7% range by late 2012. If that is going to be the
case, the job creation environment must change dramatically from what it
is today.
What is he smoking!

I am very interest to see how Gallop's numbers compare to the DOL figures which will released tomorrow

Maybe the difference is that Gallop uses non-seasonally-adjusted ##s & the DOL uses seasonally-adjusted ##s......so Gallop's ##s are always higher.mrgolf wrote:I am very interest to see how Gallop's numbers compare to the DOL figures which will released tomorrow
For Jan. 2011 Gallop reported the ue rate as 9.6% whereas DOL/U3 said 9.1% or .5 lower. Therefore if Gallop is saying Feb. 2011 will be 10.3% that means tomorrow's DOL/U3 ## should be around 9.8%.

Time to make our guesses on what the announced rate will be tomorrow.Phillymg wrote:Maybe the difference is that Gallop uses non-seasonally-adjusted ##s & the DOL uses seasonally-adjusted ##s......so Gallop's ##s are always higher.mrgolf wrote:I am very interest to see how Gallop's numbers compare to the DOL figures which will released tomorrow

I'll guess 9.1 because that is what was predicted in an article the other day.
http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2011-03-02/u-s-companies-added-more-than-estimated-217-000-jobs-last-month-adp-says.html
Companies added 200,000 jobs in
February, while unemployment rose to 9.1 percent, economists
project a Labor Department report to show in two days.

You could be right. I read somewhere that a lot of the people who "gave up looking for work" and are not counted in the unemployment rate will be coming back into the job market. We'll see.KeeptheFaith wrote:With all the fuzzy math that they do.....My guess is 8.8%
