Republican leaders have yet to respond to a letter they received yesterday from representatives Barbara Lee and Bobby Scott requesting a meeting to discuss ways to pay for a proposed $16 billion legislation that would provide an additional 14 weeks of unemployment benefits to the very long-term unemployed who have exhausted all available benefits. Yes, they would seemingly HAVE to respond....Just that the programs the Big R's want to cut to pay for it would probably invove feeding children, or something (maybe taking candy from babies)

It is a letter they are under no obligation to respond to it except for public opinion which they claim is already with them. Besides the unemployed, how many people do you think even know, or care this letter exists? Elvis this is not directed at you. Just can t contain my frustration with the Repugs, an the whole situation.elvis44102 wrote:by nuttin2lose Today at 4:27

A year ago, yes...but but there has been more media coverage, and If they don't respond then the Dems merely have to repeat the question adinfinitum untill there is a responce..

Re: Republican leaders have yet to respond to meeting request on 99er bill
was trying to take a nap earlier, laying on the couch I knew when a republican was speaking. They do not care about todays suffering at all. Not one of them said so. They said the people want to reduce the deficit. That is what they are going to do IF we do not get them out of office. I do believe they will be out of office next term.
I also saw how Democrats one after the other said what about the kids of today, how they are becoming homeless and hungry.
The republicans are selfish bat rastards I think we will soon see our extension, not sure about any job creation. Be prepared is all I can say!
Yes now is the time to keep the pressure up. Flood Boners (SP but on purpose) phones, faxes and email. cc everything to one of the networks on TV or the ed show even faux news.

If any of the following is your congressman/woman.....please e-mail him/her a copy of the letter from Rep. Lee & Rep. Scott & urge him/her to help get HR589 passed. These Republican House members voted YES on the Unemployment Extension Bill in July 2010. As a result they may be more likely than other Republicans to support HR589.

My representative is "at large" - tried calling but just got a recorded message and you know darn well that they are not going to call you back.
I'll try the DC office tomorrow.

Mine is Rep. Gerlach. He sent me an e-mail about HR589 a couple of days ago that sounded somewhat encouraging. I'll reply to him tomorrow morning by forwarding the letter from Reps. Lee & Scott. Also will call. We've got to get at least some of these Republicans on board.....but each one will only pay attention to his/her own constituents.

Re: Republican leaders have yet to respond to meeting request on 99er bill
Not sure if this got posted but here goes...
From Crew 42 site. http://www.crewof42.com/?p=4950
A sure sign of altering political dynamics would be if Speaker Boehner or ML Cantor actually agreeing to a meeting on this issue. With the absence of
political pressure and the White House completely absent from
involvement on this issue (along with so many others…) a meeting would
be surprising.
The process of this sausage (legislation) actually becoming reality will
either be brought into reality by complaining constituents back home or
it won’t.
