Re: March Madness: Washington Forgets About Jobs
"The American people want the government to stay open and they want us to cut spending" House Speaker John Boehner trumpets, apparently forgetting that he just campaigned across the country bellowing "Where are the jobs?" In Washington, the argument is about less -- how much and what to cut. And if cutting spending costs jobs, the speaker tells us "so be it."Quiethawk wrote:http://www.huffingtonpost.com/robert-l-borosage/march-madness-washington_b_833215.html
But So Be It economics is both bad policy and bad politics. It ignores the human casualties of mass unemployment, threatens already faltering growth, scorns the broad consensus of economists, and offends the priorities of voters.

Re: March Madness: Washington Forgets About Jobs
"This is mostly common sense. Every part of it has popular support. But it can't even get a hearing in Washington. So, just as the union pushback in Wisconsin and Ohio challenged the war on the middle class, citizens outside the beltway will need to intervene in Washington's March Madness."
I wonder if anyone is going to stand up and let their thoughts be known.

Thank you for the compliment, but I haven't done much of anything except for attend the rally in Madison a few times.
There are so many other people playing a much larger role. I'm talking about the rally organizers, the people in the media that are calling attention to the issues, and even the people who were simply calling the pizza place in Madison to donate pizza to the protesters.
We are ALL in this together. Some are donating their time, others are donating their resources. Each and every one of us can help in some way. The focus should remain on the issues at hand.
