Development to bring new jobs,
Development to bring new jobs, connector road near Kohl’s
Two Anderson businesses are planning commercial properties on 29
acres around the Kohl’s shopping center and are financing a new
connector road to make access easier for shoppers.
The new road, called the Beltline Connector, will run for a mile and a
half from Beltline Boulevard to Brown Road. The connector will enable
visitors to the new commercial development — called Beltline Plaza — to
avoid traffic on Clemson Boulevard. Fritz Drive is being extended to the
new connector road.
Beltline Plaza will bring about 200 jobs to the city, Epstein said.
Hewould not comment on specific business to open there.“I have to get
the roads finished first,” he said. “A lot of people have called, but
I’m not at liberty to say who.”
There are plans for two restaurants, a retail village and a large
retail building. Epstein has tentative plans for a plaza park with a
picnic area and playground and a road branching from Fritz Drive to
Wal-Mart.
“When it’s finished it’s going to be a beautiful project,” Epstein said.
