New jobs coming to the Elm City

NEW HAVEN Conn. (WTNH) - Work has begun to transform the former
Winchester Arms site to a brand new development that is likely to bring
new jobs to the city of New Haven.

"So spread the word if you
know anyone that needs a job, let them know that we're hiring," says
Miles Lasater, COO of Higher One. Higher One
, a technology and payment company has announced a $45 million
development plan to rehabilitate two of the Winchester Arms buildings to
house its new headquarters. The state is giving grants and $18 million in tax credits to help make it happen. "This
building is a physical tangible representation of that opportunity that
we see for our business to continue growing," Lasater said. The company came to Science Park in 2004 with a staff of 24, grown to over 300 employees and now plans to add more.
