U.S. Unemployment Unacceptably High - White House Advisers Admit
The President must address unemployment problem, like it or not. Boy, has it taken time for this news come out of the White House. The problem can be ignored but it will not go away. Now that is has very high, what will Obama do?
"The White House admitted on Friday that unemployment in the US was “uncomfortably high” after the latest set of figures for the American labour market showed only 54,000 new jobs were created by the world’s biggest economy last month."

Seems to me they are only mentioning this now because they are afraid of the effect on Wall Street.

What happened to Goolsbee's "bump"? He was on CNN yesterday with Wolfe Blitzer making light of the whole situation.
I think you are right, nuttin, when it starts to affect their Wall St. buddies, they know they have to address it.

It's Official--Madison Avenue Has Taken Over America
Besides the WH spin on the jobs numbers.....Eric Cantor & Dave Camp are at it too.....
http://www.majorityleader.gov/newsroom/seven/congressman-cantor-statement-on-may-unemployment-report.html
http://waysandmeans.house.gov/News/DocumentSingle.aspx?DocumentID=244478
Besides some vague assertions about how the Obama Administration wants to increase 'regulations' and 'taxes' on 'investors & businesses' along with their cries to 'overhaul the tax code' (= kill medicare & SS) the Repubs offer no more solutions than the WH on getting the American unemployment rate back to 4% or 5%.
I wish those GOP clowns would be more specific about *WHICH* 'regulations' & 'taxes' they mean. Oh I forgot.....it's the Healthcare Law. Screw them--our family's looking forward to the HC Exchanges in 2014.

Those GOP tax cuts for the wealthy "job creators" sure are working as planned. They've worked so well that the House Republicans want to give the rich even more tax cuts. We can't afford any more extensons for the victims of the Great Recession though.
A bill to help us is still sitting at the bottom of a wastepaper basket in a GOP dominated committee. They haven't had time to work on it. In addition to more tax cuts for the suffering top 3% and all those mega corporations that are strapped for cash, the House Republicans have spent every working hour trying to replace Medicare with VoucherCare, defunding NPR and Planned Parenthood, gutting Medicaid, and making sure corporate job exporters and big oil keep their badly needed subsidies.
The Congressional Republicans feel that these matters are much more important than jobs and a lifeline to the unemployed.

IMHO the whole GOP emphasis on cutbacks is virtually guaranteed to push us right back into recession. We are far from in the clear when it comes to a recovery, after which there will be plenty of time for budget cuts. If we had worried about deficits and debt in the middle of WW II, half of us would be speaking Japanese and the other half speaking German.

The so-called "job creators" aren't creating jobs. Since the Republicans' pet project, the extended tax cuts for the richest 3%, have been a failure, it's time to repeal them. A bit of that money can be much better invested in aid for the victims of the Bush Great Recession.

Why hasn't a single Republican co-sponsored H.R. 589? Why won't the Republicans let H.R. 589 out of committee? Why won't Boehner bring it to the House floor for a vote? Those Repuiblican inactions sure are telling me to "eat cake".

It is really a depression and the unemployment rate is really 25% instead of a recovery or double-dip recession and 9.1% unemployment like they lie about.

It's only getting worse out there. It has only been getting worse the whole entire time. I'm terrified that I will never find a job and will never be able to live.

Well the market is on a down trend for almost a month now. So its going to get worse! Only the greedy rich can fix it, the Government has no money. They could cut taxes for the rich again but the next crash will be worse. Everything they did for 30 years made it worse in the end.

I think that historians, freed from the myth of St. Ronnie, will assess the rot as having begun with him with the sure and certain resulting collapse occuring during the Bush II years. The tragedy will be seen, IMHO, in the current hindering of the rebuilding process by the very same right-wing ideology (and many of the same people) responsible for the destruction.
