Factory Owners Lying Again

Factory Owners Lying Again
Factory owners are once more *lying* about so-called 'shortages' of skilled workers like welders, electricians, & machinists. Older workers are retiring yes that part is true. However these cheapskate factory owners unrealistically expect expert replacements magically to appear from nowhere.
http://money.cnn.com/2011/03/11/news/economy/skilled_factory_worker_shortage/index.htm?iid=HLM
Back in the day.....20, 30, & 40 years ago.....all of the factory owners hired *apprentices*.....the factory owners would employ many unskilled or semi-skilled young people & then have the older workers *train the apprentices*. Now the factory owners are too cheap to hire & train apprentices because they want to make absurdly high profits for themselves & their investors.
I smell a scam--these factory owners are angling for something from the government. Possibly it's about getting H2B visas to bring foreign workers over to do the jobs at extremely low pay. Possibly it's about getting more tax breaks for closing their plants entirely & moving their operations overseas.

Re: Factory Owners Lying Again
That's the problem with a lot of jobs. No one is willing to train any more. Unless you get an intern position, you're screwed in many fields.
GenMet doesn't even have any jobs or anything to say that there are no current positions, please check back posted on their website - what the hell!? Instead they tell you to contact them. What kind of shady business is this?
There is nowhere to comment on the CNN article. We should all call GenMet on Monday and ask them where the jobs are!
