I agree but it has to be said that if they don't come up with the cuts to offset the cost this will go nowhere. It has been said by the GOP that they will not support any bills that are not paid for and they have to cut money off the deficit.
http://www.opencongress.org/articles/view/2240-Progress-for-99ers-Legislation
House Republicans are demanding spending cuts as offsets, so closing tax loopholes and the like won’t be in play.
If they don't go in prepared with the cuts it will be a waste of time. In the article from the Huff today it said they will try to meet with The Tan Man in the next couple of weeks from there we know it's a few more to get the bill to the floor. I am sorry if I am being negative, I am just beyond frustration that it has taken this long just to get a possible meeting that I pray they are prepared for laying out a plan for how this will be paid for....

I agree. They better go into that meeting with a way to pay for the extra 14 weeks.Quiethawk wrote:[

QH--Remember when JS123 brought people's attention to the fake farm subsidies??
http://www.nypress.com/article-21342-the-making-of-manhattans-elite-welfare-farmers.html
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_hYPQETfoQA
By going to this site anyone can read the long lists of individual Americans who get government handouts--some get $150,000 & some get $15,000.....but all of them just sit on their couches collecting cash from the govt for doing absolutely nothing.
http://farm.ewg.org/
When you read the lists & lists of names & names you will think you are living in a bizarro world where 'socialism' is bad except for all those people--I just wonder how many of them are in the Tea Party. Unbelievably real-estate developers buy up the fallow farmland, subdivide it into 5-acre lots, & sell it to people who build a house on 1 acre & every year collect a fat check from the govt on the other 4 acres!! Developers highlight the fake farm subsidies in their advertising to sell the lots!! Citizens of other countries like Canada & China who own the lots even collect the subsidies!!
Obama plans to cancel $106 billion of the fake subsidies for the 2011-2012 budget--
http://www.reuters.com/article/2011/02/14/us-usa-budget-agriculture-idUSTRE71D3WH20110214?pageNumber=2
BUT WHAT ABOUT *NOW*??
As of March 18 Congress has cut $10 billion from *existing spending*.....FROM *CURRENT* BUDGET which happens to also include this year's fake farm subsidies due to be paid out by December 31st.
What if Congress cancelled the current $106 billion in fake farm subsidies?? Or even a portion of them?? In there Congress could find $16.5 billion to pay for HR589 & other things like restoring funding to the Workforce Development jobs program.
Golf--If you have time to pass this suggestion to your friend Mike that would be great b/c maybe he has a contact in Rep. Lee's office. Since the fake farm subsidies are already on the chopping block for next year.....*rescinding them for this year* is also an urgent priority. Not to mention an effective way to pay for HR589.

I sent Arthur a email to thank him for his efforts in support of the 99ers and all the unemployed. We can't forget these people and there are many we need to thank. They do put time into their work and getting the public educated on this urgent matter.
Let's hope Boehner and Co. help us.

Phillymg I sent this message on the crewof42 website. I think we all need to express our concern that they need to go with a way to pay for it....
How To Pay for H.R. 589 Please Help Us.
I am praying that Rep. Lee & Scott go to this meeting prepared to pay for H.R. 589 we can no longer wait for the games to be played. We are dying out here. Some of us are down to selling our blood, fillings, doing experimental drug studies at questionable risk to our health, anything to survive. Please Please go to this meeting with a way to pay for it.

QH and philly, that is a very good idea you have to give the sponsors of the bill specific ideas of where to find the money to pay for it in our letters.
