Mo. senators offer to allow vote on jobless bill
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Several Missouri state senators who have been
blocking a vote on extending federally-funded jobless benefits say they
will only relent if the governor agrees to the elimination of $300
million in federal stimulus spending.
The condition is a change from earlier Wednesday,
when a senator leading the filibuster said he would allow a vote on the
unemployment bill and instead try to block up to $400 million of
stimulus spending.
The senators later said at a news conference that
they want Democratic Gov. Jay Nixon to share responsibility for
rejecting the federal money. The senators could block the $300 million
in funding without Nixon's help.
Nixon's office did not immediately respond to messages seeking comment.
About 10,000 Missouri residents lost eligibility for extended jobless benefits Saturday because of the filibuster.

Nobody believes your backpedaling lies Jimbo.....'My priority in this whole thing was certainly not an attack on the unemployed in Missouri.' --Jim Lembke April 2011

I live in Saint Louis and the dislike for Senator Lembke is unbelievable even some of his supporters are scratching their heads. He is a putz and totally not qualified to be any kind of leader. I think he didn't realize what a huge political mistake he made and he is trying to figure his way out.
