Re: Share bill progress updates here.
I'm peeved right now.
I just called my dem congressman and member of the CBC again to become a co-sponsor. Was told it wouldn't pass & that he can't become a co-sponsor of every bill. Finally got through the woman who answers the phone to speak to his legislative aide. She likes to talk over you, and told me I should only care that he votes for it. She is NOT nice. His aide listened to my concerns and arguments as to why he should become a co-sponsor. Said he would vote for it and I said it has a better chance with more co-sponsors. Very frustrating. Anyone in his district please contact Lacy Clay. DC office (202)225-2406, St. Louis office (314)383-5240, http://lacyclay.house.gov/

Re: Share bill progress updates here.
I am going to send my newly appointed REPUBLICAN representative a letter every dam day. I doubt this new clown will get on board with this bill but I am going to pummel him with e-mails. I checked his voting record so far......who would have guessed....votes party line every time. In my letters,I always let him know that my wife and I are registered republicans(even though we never vote that way). Maybe that will pluck his heart strings some.

Re: Share bill progress updates here.
Called and emailed last Friday; Representative Lipinski, Senator Durbin, and Senator Kirk from Illinois last week. All the staffers on the phone knew nothing about H.R. 589 but will leave my message. No one has called their offices and asked them to support the bill.
I am calling all the 99ers in Illinois; please do your part, call, email or fax. Senator Kirk is a Republican who could care less about the poor. He supported the tax cut for the rich but not the extension for the 99ers. He will be the difficult one to get the support we need. Please do your part!

Re: Share bill progress updates here.
I received this e-mail from my Congresswoman - Rosa Delauro yesterday:
Dear Ms. Main:
Thank you for taking the time to contact me. I appreciate hearing your views on this important issue.
We are in very difficult economic times. Families in Connecticut and across the country are struggling due to the recession and have been struggling with rising costs, weakened retirement security, and increased unemployment for years now.
While the tax package that was recently passed included an extension of unemployment benefits; unfortunately, this legislation did not include an extension for those who have exhausted their 99 weeks of benefits. I am supportive of extending benefits for those in this situation, but it does not have broad Congressional support. You can be sure that I will remain supportive of extending benefits until we begin to see real job growth.
This economic crisis demands that we respond to the concerns of the middle and working class. Unemployment insurance does this while also providing immediate relief. It is an important and effective way to boost our economy and provide a safety net for people who have fallen out of work. The federal government must confront rising unemployment in the short term while also planning for job creation in the long term by investing in our transportation and roads, the infrastructure of our economy, and new energy.
Please visit http://www.ctdol.state.ct.us/progsupt/unemplt/unemployment.htm for the most recent information or contact the Connecticut Department of Labor at (860) 263-6000.
Thank you for contacting me on this important issue. Please do not hesitate to keep me informed of your views on this or any other matter of concern to you.
Today I called her office again - read the letter to her staffer and asked WHY has Delauro not signed on a co-sponsor yet. The staffer said she did not know and would pass the info on. I also let her know that I would be calling again tomorrow.
