The CAA's Amendment 221 Empty The CAA's Amendment 221

Rep. Barbara Lee has added the contents of HR589 as a proposed amendment to HR1 which is the Continuing Appropriations Act. The amendment number is #221.

http://www.gop.gov/bill/112/1/hr1amendments

I discovered this info from the *reborn* UFF site--

http://unemployed-friends.forumotion.com/t11-rep-lee-adds-budget-amendment-for-long-term-unemployed#11

Which has a thread with a link to this Examiner article--

http://www.examiner.com/unemployment-benefits-in-mesa/budget-amendment-would-add-fourteen-weeks-of-benefits-for-long-term-unemployed

The Examiner article says it is up to the House Rules Committee to decide which amendments will be included in the final version of HR1 that comes up for a vote.

Rep. Alcee Hastings of FL is the only member of the House Rules Committee who has signed on as a cosponsor of HR589. Democrats Rep. Louise Slaughter (NY), Rep. James McGovern (MA), & Rep. Jared Polis (CO) have not yet cosponsored. If you are in the district of any of the Rules members esp. Rep. Slaughter please ask him or her to allow Amendment 221 to be included in the final version of the Continuing Appropriations Act.

Evidentally it was on the floor to some extent last night.
12:57 A.M. -
Mr. Rehberg raised a point of order against the Lee (CA) amendment Mr. Rehberg stated that the amendment proposes to change existing law. The Chair sustained the point of order.

12:45 A.M. -
DEBATE - The Committee of the Whole proceeded with debate on the Lee (CA) amendment under the five-minute rule pending reservation of a point of order.
Amendment offered by Ms. Lee (CA).

An amendment numbered 221 printed in the Congressional Record to add a new section regarding rules related to additional weeks of first-tier emergency unemployment compensation.
