New Action Needed by 99ers to help H.R. 589 get passed
Dear 99ers:
There are currently 75 Democrat co-sponsors of H.R. 589.
And not one Republican has committed to co-sponsor this bill.
Yet in the House of Representatives there are 193 Democrats and 242 Republicans.
So 75 Democrat cosponsors is a drop in the bucket.
So besides contacting our Republican representatives we need to still work on the Democrats as well.
This is our one chance to get extended unemployment benefits for the 99ers.
Lets not blow this chance.
Lets put every effort into contacting both our Democrat and Republican Congressmen and urge them to cosponsor this bill.
And don't forget the Speaker of the House Boehner. www.house.gov/house/MemberWWW_by_State.shtml
Remember Reps Barbara Lee and Bobby Scott requested our help to get their bill passed in the House.
Once it passes the House and goes to the Senate it will be a whole new ball game there with the Democrats in the majority in the Senate.
The hardest battle is getting support for this bill in the House were the majority are Republicans.
So please keep contacting your Congressmen.
We must not let up if we want to win this fight for unemployment benefits.
Below is the link to the site that lists the contact info for every Congressman.

Re: New Action Needed by 99ers to help H.R. 589 get passed
My opinion? We need to contact the Democrats and tell them that the 99ers MUST be part of any negotiations regarding the budget. Boehner has to have Dem support to get that monster going and a shutdown would be politically bad for him.
Dear Whoever,
I am writing you today on behalf of the millions of long term unemployed in America, the 99ers. In the coming weeks, there will be much back and forth going on over the federal budget. The Republican side knows that they can't accomplish this without YOUR support and the 99ers need your help now. These vulnerable citizens, the ones hit the hardest by this recession, were left behind when the tax cut deal was struck in December. Their numbers are growing to frightening proportions and that doesn't even count the number of children that depend upon them for survival. Do not let these citizens down again. H.R. 589 and H.R. 1113 MUST be a part of any deal struck regarding the budget in order to give these citizens a chance to get back the American dream.
Sincerely

Re: New Action Needed by 99ers to help H.R. 589 get passed
Excellent.
Hope many 99ers follow your example and do this.
The Republicans probable think that while so few Democrats are cosponsoring this bill then why should they bother to cosponsor it.
We need more Democrats to take the lead and make a better showing.
And then maybe more Republicans will decide this bill is worth sponsoring.
Hope many 99ers follow your example and do this.

I posted some of the following on another site, so "forgive me, please and forever"
I think we need to be point blank with our questions, because I agree - this bill is sailing out to sea.
For example:
Rep. Lee, what action or progress has been made since March 10th?
Rep. Lee, why are so many democrats yet to co-sponsor - is this bill dead?
Rep. Lee, is there a time limitation for Rep. Camp to respond to your request and requests in general?
Rep. Camp, why have you not responded to Rep. Lee?
Rep. Camp, what date can we expect your response to Rep. Lee?
Rep. Camp, is someone holding you back from this response or is this
lack of response entirely your decision and do you know what daily
consequences this lack of duty has had?
Rep. Camp, what criteria do you use to determine the swiftness of your responses?
We need to start turning the screws and running after the "guy" with the ball, who apparently right now is Rep. Camp. Force a fumble or watch for the pass. Then go wide!
Zero in!

This wasn't really called for. There's always going to be someone that's #1 poster, yeah? Doesn't mean someone isn't actively seeking employment, just means they type fast and talk a lot.
Not to mention the fact that many, many, MANY of us have been 'spoofed' and talked about other places.

concernedinK, thanks for the contact info. I've already tweeted some of these questions to him. He needs to start feeling the heat, so we can get this ball moving again. I wish we had some expertise to call on with regards to this type of issue.
I'll be calling the critter and staff on Monday.
Switching the subject to our mrgolf... Bill I am humbled to be in the top poster's web circle. Good attitude about that and your septic situation. Just let us know beforehand if you think it's gonna blow.

Its so much drama going on around the world that I don't think even Ed Schultz is allowed to spin xxxx amount of mins on the 99ers. The world is in a fragile state nation to nation to nation. I have been calling Obama's comment line and emailing him on the Emergency Designation for HR 589 BUT we really need to hit the MEDIA who will at some point get this 99er crisis out there once again. Its a slippery slope with Libya now! So its a holy mess!
