Last but not least, the Labor Participation Rate has dropped to 64.2%,
which is far lower than the near 66% held at the beginning of 2008.

This is one of the things that most of the people that do believe the lies that everything is getting better don't know about. They just keep saying people have dropped out of the the workforce and that's the only reason that the unemployment rate has went down at all the whole time. It's so frustrating!

Yep! I wish that I had saved that Huffington article that put about 3.4 million people without any income - The Exhaustees/99ers for 2010.

That's one item I've been bringing up. There are less people in the labor pool overall. I think that's what is bringing down the unemployment rate.

The author's headline is deceptive since he isn't focusing on the U3/U6 unemployment rates. Russell Ruggiero is an 'IT Analyst'.....but likes to call himself an 'Economist.' Can't find info on where he went to school or what degrees he earned so it's hard to say whether or not he's actually an economist. He started posting Examiner articles Jan. 28, 2011.

http://www.examiner.com/user-russell-ruggiero

His articles kind of recycle existing info & seem to straddle both parties but it's good that at least he emphasizes that there aren't enuf jobs. However in his latest piece it's unclear exactly what it is that he's proposing. Ruggiero ends it with--

To get employment back on track is really dependent on Washington crafting meaningful tax related legislation, which makes it compelling for the prvate sector to start hiring on a mass scale.
What the heck is 'meaningful tax related legislation'??

Most of Ruggiero's '150 articles' (before he started posting on the examiner) related to IT tech issues--but he cowrote an interesting piece in 2004 about how offshoring/outsourcing was killing American IT jobs--

http://www.information-management.com/authors/32186.html

However beyond saying that US companies should offer better healthcare insurance for their IT employees the article doesn't offer solutions.
