I hope Obama issues a statement.
We all need to stand together on this. Every worker needs to put aside their differences and agree that solidarity takes precedence over other concerns.

I am very concerned. Jobs pay minimum wage, benefits gutted and now all states with republican majorities will follow WI and all hope of earning a living wage will be gone. Then we will be mandated to buy healthcare due to the healthcare bill. I've been working a non benefitted temp job for the state I live in...I worry about no healthcare...I worry I will lose my job again and now I'm worried when will I get a regular job? when can I get my health issues taken care of? I hate being negative but I'm getting old- if people don't think this will effect private sector jobs, they are mistaken.

I fear if the republicans win on this, and I hope they don't in the end, it will set a precedence for shoving legislation down the throats of Americans even if it means doing it unethically. Talk about a politician imposing his will on the people. Kind of reminds me of some of the historical dictators of the world and we all know what happens to them in the end. Unfortunately, they do a great deal of damage before they are brought down.

I saw the protests at the State House on TV tonight. Seems very orderly. Have you been able to make it lately?JaneWI wrote:pugsrit wrote:We all need to stand united on this topic. You are not the only that is worried. I ask myself these same questions every day.

It's mj in wisconsin ~ it's getting ugly in Madison WI right now ~ I am still unable to walk real well with my injury last week so I haven't been in Madison lately but my friends are there right now ~ just talked to them ~ the police actually just gave up they could not handle the crowds ~ I can not believe that is has come to this ~ I can't believe this is even legal ~ they say it is but hmmmmmmm ~ Karri tells me that most people say they will not leave this evening they will go at it all night if they can ~ she said all they hear is kill the bill & shame on you ~ it's sad that it has come to this ~ it will only get worse ~ on another note I have a second interview tomorrow ~ it's not exactly what I want to do ~ but change is good! Wish me luck!rubeNG wrote:Fasten your seatbelts 'cus its gonna get bumpy.

Good Luck tomorrow M.J. My fingers are crossed for you. Keep us posted what you hear from your friends in Madison. It sounds like the Dems are not coming back tomorrow but they will return soon. I pray this is not a trick to get them back....

Re: Wisconsin GOP Senators Pass Stand-Alone Anti-Union Bill Without Democrats Present
thanks for all the well wishes of good luck tomorrow on the interview ~ even if I get it ~ I'm going to be here as long as it takes for all my unemployed friends to go back to work or for an extention to help all ~ We're all in this together ~ and have to continue to fight for everyone ~ Karri just called me from Madison ~ they (all 24 of them who are unemployed) are staying tonight ~ one of my friends has family in Madison so they will take turns keeping warm at her home & getting something to eat ~ it's a short walk to their house ~ they have their sleeping bags & blankets so they'll stay warm & they are telling me that the restaurants are bringing food out to the protesters ~ there's pizza & subs & hot coffee & hot chocolate in abundance right now ~ all the days that I have been in Madison the food vendors have been awesome ~ especially to the unemployed ~ they would send you over to places that would provide you with a nice meal Free ~ they've been good to the protesters ~ Karri said that the police can't control the crowds & it looks like they are just going to let them be for tonight ~ I'm sure tomorrow is going to get uglier

He feels no shame and that is the problem. He should be sent packing!

The last one I went to was the day Michael Moore was there, unfortunately I missed him. There were a lot of people there and yes, it was a peaceful protest. There were a lot of small children in attendance. Their parents would not have brought them if they felt the situation was dangerous.

Budget bill foes say stealthy vote broke open meetings law; challenges coming
"Attorney Bob Dreps, an expert in open meetings and open records law, said the state's open meetings law requires 24 hours notice before any government meeting can be held. It allows for shorter notice for "good cause" only when it would be "impossible" or "impractical" to wait 24 hours. But even in those situations there must be a two-hour notice for an emergency meeting, he said.
Dreps said from what he could see, the Senate Republicans "didn't give valid notice.""

Dems file ethical complaint against Walker for Koch call
"DPW’s complaint alleges Walker violated campaign finance and state ethics laws by illegally soliciting coordination for independent expenditures, using state facilities to do it, discussing putting the public safety at risk by inserting troublemakers into the protests and engaging in unfair labor practices by using the threat of layoffs to bargain politically."

Wisconsin Republicans strip collective bargaining rights from public workers without Dems
""You are cowards!" spectators in the Senate gallery screamed as lawmakers voted. Within hours, a crowd of a few hundred protesters inside the Capitol had grown to several thousand, more than had been in the building at any point during weeks of protests."

I watched the video several times...does ANYONE hear the vote in the background? I can't!! They acknowledged the Democratic Senator, let him talk, and then I can only guess that in the background they voted? This can't believe this happened in my home State....
