I was just on CNN to see if there was more info. Within a span of 3 minutes, 156 people had posted comments - Jeez, that is incredibly fast.
I hope that no one was seriously injured.

Sounds bad QH. Having gone through Hurricane Katrina I can't imagine the devastation from a double whammy quake and tsunami. Those poor people will need all the prayers and help they can get.

I have this theory that someday we will realize our stupidity and greed by pumping all of the oil that we use to pollute the Earth.
From Newtonian physics we know that "for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction".

It's wild to see it move.... It went up a river and now I get why I am in a tsunami zone. Just 8 miles away from ocean but my river is only 300 feet away...
they had another 7.1....

I think the number of casualties will be high, too much water moving too fast.

The Japanese are know for being very efficient and practical-I pray to God they can get emergency aid to the survivors quickly.
I pray they have a better system than FEMA. This is devastating.

Oh God people waving sheets out of windows needing to be evacuated, I really hope they have a better response and plan than we had here during katrina.
I don't think logistically they can move all those people............if they are going to make it they have to get to higher ground on their own-and then survive until supplies get there.

I spent a lot of time in Thailand where the tsunami hit. I have a photo of a very big police boat that wash swept over 1 mile inland.

Re: Japan Earthquake: 8.9 Magnitude Earthquake Hits, 19-Feet High Tsunami Feared
That's what I worry about here. Couldn't get how we would be in the Tsunami zone being 8-10 miles away from Ocean but seeing it move up a river I get it now.....
