NEW YORK — Wall Street tumbled Tuesday,
following Japan’s stock market sharply lower as the earthquake-shattered
country faced an unfolding nuclear crisis.

The Dow Jones industrial average fell as much as 297 points in early
trading, but was lately off those lows. The dollar strengthened and
government bond prices rose, as investors flocked to the relative safety
of U.S. Treasurys.

The following leaves me with a couple of questions. Where are they pulling the investment money from? How much are they repatriating into Japan? The paragraph before mentions an increased interest in gold as an investment. I wonder how much that's going to impact the price of gold and other precious metals.

World shares slump amid Japan fears

"Analysts said it was likely that large Japanese investors, such as insurance companies and hedge funds, were also pulling money from overseas and repatriating it ahead of the country's mammoth rebuilding task."

That was partially my thought as well. With the Japanese are repatriating their funds, where are these funds being pulled from, US, Europe or elsewhere? How much money is being pulled?
