Re: Wells Fargo to cut 193 jobs in auto finance collections
Wells Fargo closed its Allentown call center & moved 450 workers to a shopping center in Bethlehem--now 193 of those workers have gotten the axe. WF says it's rehired 'some' of the workers but declined to specify how many.
Apt quote from one of the commenters--
Guess which bank got the most TARP money.....$25 billion.....
Apt quote from one of the commenters--
Nationwide, WF will lay off 3,800 workers this year. We're getting rid of a ton of people after we said we weren't and dumping a huge empty monster in Allentown in favor of a dead shopping center in Bethlehem.

Don't tell me that they are laying off people because of money woes. And DEFINITELY don't tell me that they are outsourcing those jobs.
Can banks outsource jobs to foreign countries???

Wells Fargo says it's removing reduplication of labor due to the the acquisition of (merger with) Wachovia. (Which the $25 billion in TARP $$ allowed them to buy.)Sunrise wrote:Don't tell me that they are laying off people because of money woes. Yes but less likely than other US corporations. When TD Bank bought Commerce Bank because TD is based in Canada probably a bunch of jobs got taken over by Canadians. I say outsourcing is less likely (for now) among US banks due to security concerns. Healthcare industry has no such qualms.....sending people's medical tests & records all over the world. Communications industry (computer companies etc.) happily outsource.Sunrise wrote:Can banks outsource jobs to foreign countries???
