Industrial society

We did not need Washington to lead us ruin, we became complacent all on our own. When we stopped doing our own work a few generations ago we lost much of the knowledge that enabled us to be self sufficient. I never bought in to the theory that we could profit by going to the hamburger flipping tourist economy, I was taught that wealth comes from the application of labor to resources. There are 15 million unemployed people, that is equal to the population of Moscow. 15 million people with skills would be a powerful force if they could learn to work together and create their own industrial society.

Re: Industrial society
When you mentioned moscow, it brought to mind something I just heard..
The Politburo had a 92% return rate, congress has a 98% return rate..
Hows that demcracy working?
We are supposed to wash each others cloths, and service each other hamburgers
and of course resell a potatoe five times before we eat it....
Its a service economy......

Re: Industrial society
We do not have join their service economy, we can produce manufactured goods if we work together. Here are two low tech, low cost ways to get back into manufaturing. They are open source (free) designs that we can build easily. I have been building utility trailers, compressors, tow bars, generators et cetera for years so I know that there is a market.

Re: Industrial society
The wildflower idea was my own invention, a sideline I picked up while picking up cans. There are edible plants, medicinal plants and seasonings that grow everywhere as long as you know what to look for. There is a good market for natural foods and medicines, a trip to your local library will show you what grows in your area, the good books will have pictures.
When we lived in Arizona I would meet many gold miners, I made more than any of them by picking up semi precious stones and selling them at the swap meet. Semi precious stones are only worth about $2 to $20 but you can pick up hundreds of them on a good day and they sell quickly. If you must pan for gold do it where the water slows down, the gold drops out first when the water slows.
